What is the week all about?

An educational and creative program where kids can express themselves through art, handicrafts, stories, language, theater, movements and games.

Languages spoken by the supervisors during the week: Spanish, English, French, German and Italian.

Very small group! Maximum 10 children with 2 supervisors!

RecreARTE is a space dedicated to the development and the capability of expression through manual as well as physical artistic creation. In the afternoons of  RecreARTE we're working on handicrafts using all types of materials, preferably natural elements and recycling material to develop and improve painting, sculpturing, collage and many more skills.

Besides workshop participants have the opportunity to exhibit their works with the opening of their very own exhibition. Alternatively, the kids can present and sell their artwork at their very own market.

The manual work alternates with physical art. Here it's all about the kids expressing themselves through movement such as physical expression, creative dance, interpretation, theater make-up, masks ans self-made costumes. 

Add games, stories and poems to all of this and you'll get pretty much an idea of what is RecreARTE. 

The assistence through supervisors can be either continuously or only when needed. There is a maximum of 10 children per class. The classes are given in spanish, although in an international ambience, including english, french and italian if there are participants who don't understand spanish.

 Next month is the month of the swine flu vaccination in Spain. Medical personnel are the first ones to receive the vaccine followed by pregnant women and chronically ill patients.

Varios pediatrics do concider it necessary that all minors receive the vaccine against this new virus. The head physician of the "Hospital Virgen del Camino de Pamplona" Enrique Bernaola, said that this is important regarding the fact that children are the ones that contaminate each other the most and the ones who pass on viruses the most. According to Bernaola, the vaccination is important to secure public health.

In Sweden they have already started using the new vaccine. Only after the vaccination of 1000 people there were 190 that suffered from strong side-effects such as high fever and trembling and had to go to hospital because of them. In Sweden they've used the vaccine Pandemrix.

The kids had the greatest fun at Sa Punta's cooking class last Sunday.

With the help of two clown chefs the kids mixed dough for a cake - with a lot of tasting of the different stages of the dough going on - and learned where all the ingredients come from.

After the chefs put the delicious cake in the oven, the kids started preparing small pizzas. Every child received a baking tin and dough to fill it with. On top of the dough the children put tomato sauce, added ham and last but not least cheese.

Obviously cakes and pizzas taste even better when you've prepared them yourself.

There are two more Sundays for kids at Sa Punta this year, taking on the 27th September and 4th October.

The first Harry Potter charity party at Privilege has been a success. Within the first hour 400 tickets were sold. 

Assembled in the semidarkness of the night club the children enjoyed the show as the main dancefloor of Privilege turned into Harry Potter's Hogwarts school for Witchcraft and Wizardry. All acts were presented by Piruleto the clown turned Piruleto the magic clown.  

A group of dancing girls was the opening act followed by magician Alexis who left the children in astonishments with his legerdemains. A paper made bow tie transformed into a real dove.

There were also acts by Dantés the magician, the small magician Iván and acts from groups such as Passion Dance, Escuela de Baile Ángela Custodio and Foc i Fum. Jill and Elena from Girlz School were in charge of the music and kidsinibiza.com took care of the entertainment of the smallest visitors by doing face paints. 

The party was organized by the Plataforma Sociosanitaria de las Pitiusas with its president Carmen Villena. The money made with the entrance tickets of 5 euros will be used for the maintainance of the different social and health services the platform is offering.

From 22nd September until 3rd December the "Institut d'Estudis Eivissencs" is offering catalan classes for youngsters between 12 and 16 years old.

The classes are taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon, one from 5.30 pm - 7 pm and another one from 7.30 pm - 9 pm. The main objective of the course is to improve the oral fluency of its participants.

The "cuenta cuentos" afternoons in Ibiza's libraries are very popular, there is someone reading a children's book to the kids in either spanish or catalan.

From mid September there will be story telling in Santa Gertrudis for all children that understand german. There will be two groups, one for children between 3 -7 years old and another one for 8 - 12 year olds. Books by courtesy of international book shop Libro Azul in Santa Gertrudis.

Apart from that there will be a german class for native speakers and for children with a good knowledge of german through a native speaker. The older kids group will be focusing on READING and WRITING being the domains that most of the time cannot be covered by parents to a sufficient extent. Places are limited.

 Thanks to the success of the last KIDS MINI FOAM PARTY last month, AMNESIA and APNEFF (Association of people with special needs Ibiza and Formentera) have decided to repeat the event.

Yesterday families and their smallest members spent another unforgettable afternoon at Amnesia. The kids, accompanied by Piruleto the clown were asking for "Espuma, espuma, espuma!" (foam, foam, foam) and couldn't wait for the racket to start. They were singing the songs of Piruleto, all of them dresses in bathing costumes and shorts, some even with diving goggles. The event turned out to be another success, in this case organized because of the Sant Bartomeu fiestas. The kids had lots of fun and lots of laughter and were also using the bouncy castles and other installations while playing. With children's songs and the animation of Piruleto the canon finally started throwing the foam. The kids were clearly carried away by the foam and Piruleto had his problems to keep their attention on him.

Can Pujolet is preparing full moon rides in August for the very little ones as well as older riding fans.

Full moon camp: Starting at 6.30pm until 1pm on the following day.

Consisting of:

- riding class from 6.30pm - 8.30pm

- animal feeding

- shower and dinner

- 9pm - 10:30pm preparing the horses and full moon ride 10:30pm - midnight

The GREEN WORKSHOPS are set up on the beaches and are operative from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants are grouped by age (3-5s, 6-8s and 9-12s) so that they will feel more integrated and the activities can be carried out according to the level and needs of each specific group. For the littlest ones to participate, they must be accompanied by an adult who can give proper authorisation. The participation of parents and minders enables them to become involved in the activities and workshops and at the same time to follow the participation of their children. For the fifth consecutive year, the Balears Sostenible Foundation is holding Green Workshops on the beaches of the Balearic Islands. The aim of these workshops is for children and parents, through games and entertainment, to acquire the values and attitudes that are essential for protecting our environment and to show people using the beaches how to care for them better and use them to greater effect. The workshops run by the Foundation have been very popular and highly rated by visitors and residents using our beaches during the summer months.

ACTIVITIES AND WORKSHOPS FOR EVERYONE. AN IMAGINATIVE FORMULA FOR LEARNING.

The instructors have sufficient knowledge of languages to be able to attend to children and youngsters of all nationalities. They are in charge of preparing, coordinating and encouraging participation in the workshops that are held.

The activities are selected and alternated depending on the participants but there are 4 categories that are always carried out: Handicraft, Selective Rubbish, Recycled Fancy Dress and Green Comic.

The essential objectives of these workshops are:

- encouraging the respect of the beach users for their natural surroundings.

- stimulating the areas where the workshops are held, to motivate children in the activities offered.

- making people aware of the activities carried out by the Balears Sostenible Foundation for the conservation of the environment

- transmitting environmental values to the visitors to the beach.

The key lies in getting children and youngsters between the ages of 3 and 12 to participate directly and actively in this learning experience. To achieve this, the activities are organised into small groups, transmitting values that can be applied directly or indirectly once the activity has finished.

AN INITIATIVE THAT MARKS THE SUMMER

In 2008, the tents of the Green Workshops were first set up in July, in Majorca. During the first month they operated on 106 beaches, with the participation of 821 children of various nationalities (Spanish, Italian, German, English, French, Dutch, etc) During the month of August, activities continued from Tuesdays to Sundays on 112 beaches in Majorca, 23 beaches in Menorca and 21 beaches in Ibiza en Formentera, with an average of 30 participants per day. In total, 3,045 children and youngsters took part. One aspect to be highlighted is the involvement of parents in the workshops. Apart from participating together with their children, they also asked where the next workshops would be held and expressed their thanks. The children rated very positively the creative work carried out during the activities. Thanks to initiatives like the GREEN WORKSHOPS and the GREEN CARD, the image of the Islands is improved, and new, highly-valued services are offered to holidaymakers and visitors. From the Balears Sostenible Foundation we will continue working for our environment and for the continued improvement of our most precious asset, the natural environment of the Balearic Islands.

Sa Punta restaurant is offering a cooking class for children between 2 and 8 years old next Sunday, 12th July from 2pm.

The duration of the course is 45 minutes and it is free for the restaurants clients.

The children are going to prepare chocolate cakes and muffins.

The class is aimed at youngsters between 12 and 16 years old that have recently arrived on the island. The 40 hour course is held in July and August from Monday to Friday, 9 - 11 am at Can Ventosa.

The first birthday party of Kumany was very entertaining for both, children and parents. The kids had some crazy moments playing with ballons that were all over the place. Owner Javi was happy to welcome around 20 little guests from 10 month - 7 years old accompanied by their parents. The children enjoyed a Punch and Judy show followed by a magician. Kumany fans enjoyed the delicious fruit skewers in funny shapes, chocolate bathed strawberries and cava for the parents and stayed till 10pm.

The Kidsinibiza.com launch was celebrated at the opening of Pura Vida beach club from 4pm last Thursday. With a lot of wind and cloudy weather it kicked of slowly with few toddlers, but got busier with older children between 6 and 12 in the late afternoon hours.

With a huge playing area for kids inside the restaurant and lots of games and activities, the children were busy while mums and dads were either staying with them or enjoying themselves on the Pura Vida terrace.

With face paints, painting and drawing activities, games and prizes the children did not only get to participate in a variety of activities, the older ones were also entertained by a clown who lost his magic.

Pura Vida is looking forward to host the Pura Vida Kids Club every Thursday, where parents can either bring their children to Pura Vida and pick them up again at 6pm or can enjoy lunch at the restaurant themselves knowing that the children are well looked after.
